Mike McCarthy reveals reason for Troy Fautanu, Mason McCormick position changes

by

The Pittsburgh Steelers have already shaken things up in the Mike McCarthy era. With OTAs beginning this past Monday, the alignment of the offensive line looks very different than it did in 2025.

Tory Fautanu and Mason McCormick were moved to the left side, with Fautanu playing left tackle and McCormick at guard. Dylan Cook was at right tackle with Spencer Anderson at right guard. Head coach Mike McCarthy was asked about this on Wednesday while speaking with the media.

“I really just wanted to get that left side set,” McCarthy said. “Those guys were really excited about it.”

With Broderick Jones dealing with an ongoing neck injury and Isaac Seumalo leaving for Arizona in free agency, the Steelers’ left-side starters were both gone. Moving Fautanu and McCormick over to ensure Aaron Rodgers’ blind side has proven stability in terms of blockers stands to reason.

The Steelers will continue OTAs Thursday and return next week on May 26.
