The 2025 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships continued on Friday from McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the campus of Ohio State University.
The Day 3 prelims consisted of the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke before the afternoon 3-meter diving session.
Here is a look at what happened on Friday morning:
Big Ten Women’s 100 Butterfly
Indiana sophomore Miranda Grana was close to breaking 51 in the prelims of the 100 butterfly, getting to the wall in 51.27, two tenths off of her best time.
Penn State fifth-year Margaret Markvardt also broke 52 seconds and finished in 51.96.
The third seed went to UCLA’s fifth-year Emma Harvey in 52.03.
Michigan will pick up some big points with four in the finals, taking the 4-5-6-7 seeds with Brady Kendall (52.11), Cheuk Kan (52.18), Ella Piersma (52.19) and Alex Greenhawt (52.24).
USC fifth-year Caroline Famous rounded out the top eight at 52.27, the first of her daily double.

Big Ten Women’s 400 IM
Ohio State took the top two seeds in the 400 IM as freshman Sienna Angove raced to a 4:05.99. Senior teammate Mia Rankin was just behind at 4:06.98.
They were the only two swimmers in the field to break 4:08.
Wisconsin fifth-year Callahan Dunn took the third spot in 4:08.45, ahead of Indiana sophomore Reese Tiltmann (4:08.63).
OSU had another in the finals with Krista Marlin grabbing the fifth seed in 4:08.75, followed by USC’s Ashley McMillan (4:09.26), UCLA’s Paige MacEachern (4:09.32) and Michigan’s Hannah Bellard (4:19.15).

Big Ten Women’s 200 Free
Indiana senior Anna Peplowski continues her stellar meet. She took the top seed in 1:42.55, an NCAA A cut.
Earlier in the meet, she broke the meet record in the event, leading off the 800 free relay in 1:40.69.
Michigan sophomore Stephanie Balduccini cruised to the wall in 1:43.07, more than a second off her entry time.
Peplowski and Balduccini are the only swimmers in the field to break 1:42 this season and could be in for a strong duel.
USC’s Minna Abraham took the third seed in 1:43.61, followed by Wisconsin’s Abby Carlson (1:44.15), Michigan’s Christey Liang (1:44.54), OSU’s Erin Little (1:44.95), Michigan’s Malia Amuan (1:44.96) and OSU’s Rachel Bockrath (1:45.08).

Big Ten Women’s 100 Breaststroke
USC fifth-year and former NCAA champion Kaitlyn Dobler took the top seed in the 100 breaststroke to no surprise, getting to the wall in 58.51.
Michigan junior Letitia Sim was a half second behind at 59.12, just ahead of OSU’s Ava DeAngelis (59.31) and UCLA’s Karolina Piechowicz (59.42).
Indiana senior Brearna Crawford grabbed the fifth seed in 59.73, followed by Nebraska senior Maia Hall (59.94), Wisconsin junior Hazal Ozkan (59.98) and UCLA senior Ana Jih-Schiff (1:00.00).

Big Ten Women’s 100 Backstroke
Indiana sophomore Miranda Grana made the most of her double, grabbing the top seed in both the 100 fly and 100 back.
Grana got to the wall in 50.80, her best time of the season by a second.
Wisconsin fifth-year Phoebe Bacon took the second seed in 51.15, while OSU’s Nyah Funderburke was third at 51.25.
Indiana got two more in the finals with Kacey McKenna (51.36) and Mya DeWitt (51.41) going 4-5, followed by Michigan’s Casey Chung (51.42), Minnesota’s Ava Yablonski (51.63) and USC’s Famous (51.66), who like Grana, made the finals in both the 100 fly and 100 back.
