STARKVILLE — Mississippi State women’s basketball starter Debreasha Powe is transferring to rival Ole Miss.
The junior guard/forward from Merdian announced her commitment to the Rebels and coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin with an Instagram post on April 15.

“Trusting the next chapter because I know the author,” Powe wrote.
Powe has started 98 of 99 career games in the last three seasons for the Bulldogs. She averaged 8.4 points per game last season, fourth most on the team, and is a career 37.3% 3-point shooter.

Powe becomes the second player to transfer between the in-state rivals since the end of the season. Forward Kharyssa Richardson, who was a backup for the Rebels, committed to MSU on April 3.
What Debreasha Powe adds to Ole Miss women’s basketball
The Rebels have been busy in the transfer portal turning over a roster that reached the NCAA tournament Sweet 16. Powe is the sixth transfer portal commitment for McPhee-McCuin, joining Cotie McMahon (Ohio State), Latasha Lattimore (Virginia), Jayla Murray (Wichita State), Kaitlin Peterson (UCF) and Tianna Thompson (Georgia Tech).

Powe will add perimeter shooting to Ole Miss, connecting on 134 3-pointers in the last two seasons. She was also viewed as one of locker room leaders at Mississippi State.
Mississippi State women’s basketball has been hit hard by transfer portal
Powe is one of three Mississippi State starters to enter the transfer portal with center Madina Okot and point guard Denim DeShields. Okot and DeShields have not committed to new teams yet.

Only three players are slated to return next season: Chandler Prater, Destiney McPhaul and Rocio Jimenez.

The Bulldogs have added two transfers so far: Richardson and North Carolina guard Trayanna Crisp.
