Missouri State women’s basketball begins its third season under head coach Beth Cunningham on Sunday afternoon when it hosts Tulsa.
The Lady Bears and Tulsa will play Sunday at 2 p.m. at Great Southern Bank Arena in Springfield.
The Lady Bears are heading into their final season in the Missouri Valley Conference before moving to Conference USA next season. They were picked to finish fifth after qualifying for the WBIT at the end of the 2023-24 season.
Cunningham’s roster returns plenty of familiar faces with star point guard Lacy Stokes being the most notable after earning MVC Newcomer of the Year honors. She leads a roster with a new but experienced frontcourt and additional guard depth.
Tulsa went 25-10 last season and won the American Athletic Conference regular season championship before being knocked out early in the league’s tournament. The Golden Hurricane then played in the WBIT and advanced to the quarterfinal round.
Tulsa won its season opener on Wednesday with a come-from-behind 63-60 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Sophomore Elise Hill made a game-winning 3 at the buzzer to pull off the 17-point comeback.
