Mohamed Salah goes 3rd on Liverpool’s all-time scorers list

Mohamed Salah has moved up to third on the list of Liverpool‘s all-time goalscorers, scoring his 242nd goal for the club in the team’s 3-1 Premier League win over Southampton on Saturday.

Salah had drawn level in third place with Gordon Hodgson — who played for Liverpool from 1926 to 1935 — after opening the scoring in the 2-0 win over Manchester City at the Etihad.

But the Egypt international has now surpassed Hodgson with his strike against PSG, with only Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285) having scored more goals for Liverpool in the club’s history.

The strike also saw Salah go level with Sergio Agüero for fifth on the all-time Premier League scorers list and level as the top-scoring non-English player in the league’s history.

Salah converted from the penalty spot to put Liverpool 2-1 up against the Premier League’s bottom-placed side on Saturday afternoon, with Darwin Núñez having drawn the hosts level at Anfield after Will Smallbone had opened the scoring for the Saints.

Salah has reached this landmark in just 390 Liverpool appearances, having arrived at Anfield in June 2017 from Roma.

He has found the back of the net on 181 occasions in the Premier League for Liverpool, while notching 45 goals in the Champions League, six in the Emirates FA Cup, five in the Europa League, four in the Carabao Cup and one in the Community Shield. He has also managed 109 assists for Liverpool during his time on Merseyside.
