More basketball analysts think Malachi Moreno returns to Kentucky

by

The Kentucky Wildcats coaching staff is working thoroughly to build the best roster possible for the upcoming 2026-27 season, as Head Coach Mark Pope is heading into his third season as the men’s basketball coach.

Pope has a chance to have one of the best rosters in basketball if he can land a couple more players on next season’s roster. Big Blue Nation is awaiting the announcements of Kentucky native Malachi Moreno and former Iowa State big man Milan Momcilovic as May 27th approaches.

Moreno skipped the NBA Combine’s 5-on-5 scrimmage, so the Wildcats media was not sure what to make of it.

CBS analysts Matt Norlander and Gary Parrish didn’t put much stock into it, as they think there’s a 75% that Moreno returns to Lexington to play under Pope next season.

“I think Moreno and Tyler Tanner are going to play against each other in the SEC next season. They’re going through the process, but I don’t blame them. They’re handling it very well.” Parrish added during a recent episode of Eye On College Basketball.

It’s no secret that Mark Pope is very high on what Moreno, even saying recently that he believes the Georgetown native would become the best center in college basketball season.

The Wildcats staff has been in Chicago, checking in on some former Wildcats and seeing who they could pursue over the next couple of weeks. It will be a stressful week and a half as BBN awaits roster news ahead of the May 27 deadline to withdraw from the NBA Draft.
