It’s Monday, and we are in the full swing of the summer offseason. That being said, football preview posts are ramping up. As always, our coverage is still going strong. Check out our original coverage and what we can find from the World Wide Web below.
Athlon Sports weighs in, sharing their thoughts on the seemingly inevitable playoff expansion. The Big Ten has led the expansion efforts, aiming to double the field, but the SEC isn’t quite ready to go that high, forcing the statelmate for now. Athlon’s team of writers state that they prefer to stay at 12 teams for the time being, citing no strong reasons to expand aside from the money grab. Also, more time is needed to identify what’s working and what is not.

Chris Murray does his annual ranks of coaches in the conferences as he looks at the new-look MW. He has Dan Mullen topping the list, with Troy Calhoun close behind. Jason Eck has risen all the way to third (he was ninth last year), with Ken Niumatalolo sitting at fourth. Timmy Chang is now in fifth, with NDSU coach Tim Polasek behind him. The bottom of the list all features coaches with something to prove, starting with Jeff Choate, with Jay Sawvel, Scotty Walden, and NIU’s interim coach Rob Harley rounding things off.
College Football continues to discuss every FBS team, with this one focused on the Bulldogs. It’s hoping to make the Pac-12 conference its own. On offense, they figure to lead the way with the running attack again, returning their top three rushers. However, if they can’t deelop a passing game, there will be a ceiling like there was last year. Over on defense, the front seven is built to stop the run and succeeded most of the time last year and should again in 2026. That being said, some pass rushers need to emerge and they need to replace their top two cornerbacks. CFN predicts Fresno State will face a tougher schedule in their new conference and finish 8-4 on the season.
