Michigan State basketball has moved up in the latest way-too-early rankings from CBS Sports.
Gary Parrish of CBS Sports has released his latest batch of way-too-early rankings, and the Spartans experienced a slight bump up the board. Parrish moved Michigan State up one spot to No. 14 in his latest rankings on CBS Sports.

Here’s what Parrish had to say about the Spartans:
“This ranking is based on the Spartans returning four of the top eight scorers — specifically Coen Carr, Jaxon Kohler, Jeremy Fears and Carson Cooper — from a team that finished 30-7 and advanced to the Elite Eight of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. That core will be joined by a recruiting class highlighted by Samford transfer Trey Fort, FAU transfer Kaleb Glenn and four-star freshmen Cam Ward and Jordan Scott.”
Michigan State is one of seven teams from the Big Ten in Parrish’s rankings. Joining Michigan State was Purdue (No. 2), Michigan (No. 7), UCLA (No. 8), Oregon (No. 16), Ohio State (No. 23) and Wisconsin (No. 24).
Michigan State won the Big Ten this past season and reached the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans, however, will need to replace a number of key contributors from last year’s squad, including Jase Richardson, Jaden Akins, Tre Holloman and Frankie Fidler.
