An in-state prospect from the same town of Michigan State’s top rival has received some recruiting buzz from the Spartans.

Nathan Phillips of Ann Arbor, Mich. announced on Saturday that he intends to visit Michigan State this fall for a Spartans’ game day visit. Per a social media post from Phillips, he will visit Michigan State on September 12 for Michigan State’s home game against Eastern Michigan.

Phillips is listed as a three-star defensive lineman and/or edge rusher, according to his social media X account. He plays for Huron High School, and is listed at 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds.

According to his social media X account, Phillips has received interest from a number of big-time schools in the last month or two, including Michigan State, Wisconsin, Florida State, Army, Purdue, Cincinnati and Eastern Michigan. He is also expected to visit Cincinnati in September.

Michigan State has not yet offered this 2028 prospect, but don’t be surprised if that follows in the coming months. He’s clearly a junior prospect that is getting some national power four buzz and could be in line for an offer from the Spartans down the road.
