McGee is listed as a five-star prospect with a recruiting rating of 99.61 in 247Sports’ composite rating system. He ranks as the No. 2 edge rusher and No. 6 overall prospect in the 2028 class. He is also listed as the No. 1 player from Illinois.
Michigan State was one of the first of nearly 40 schools to offer McGee, according to 247Sports. He also holds notable offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Miami (FL), Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Texas, Tennessee, USC, Vanderbilt, Washington, Wisconsin and Notre Dame.
McGee is a massive prospect that obviously is receiving interest from all of the big time programs in the country. So it’s notable and positive to see Michigan State getting him on campus this spring. It’ll be interesting to see if the Spartans can continue to grow his interest in them or if they’re still a cut below the level of programs that typically land a talent of his level.
