Mississippi State guard Josh Hubbard and Ole Miss forward Cotie McMahon were named the winners of the 2026 Howell Trophy and Gillom Trophy, respectively, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame announced Wednesday.
The Howell Trophy is presented annually to the top male college basketball player in Mississippi, while the Gillom Trophy is awarded to the top female college basketball player in the state.

Hubbard, a junior, is the first three-time winner of the Howell Trophy. He averaged a career-best 22.1 points per game this season and had 19 20-plus-point games. He scored a career-high 46 points in a win against Auburn in February and had two 40-point games and seven games where he scored at least 30 points. The Madison native has averaged 19.3 points per game in his Mississippi State career, which included trips to the NCAA Tournament in 2024 and 2025.
McMahon, who was drafted in the first round of the 2026 WNBA Draft (11th overall) by the Washington Mystics on Monday, played one season with the Rebels after three at Ohio State. She was named first-team All-SEC and earned All-American honors after leading Ole Miss with 19.5 points per game. She also averaged 5.1 rebounds and 3 assists per game. McMahon scored a career-best 39 points in a win over Tennessee in February and scored 20 or more points in 19 games. The Rebels made their fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, defeating Gonzaga in the first round before falling to Minnesota in the second.
McMahon is the fifth Ole Miss recipient of the Gillom Trophy in the last six seasons.
