Ty Gibbs Wins His 2nd Career Cup Race

The final stage of the Iowa Corn 350 was great entertainment. Gibbs was the winner out of a three-way battle, which Gibbs, Christopher Bell, and Ryan Blaney all participated in.

Stage 3 began with Blaney taking the lead from Chase Elliott, who had started from first place due to staying out of pit lane in the stage break. Blaney would go on to led the next 35 laps until he met a surging No. 20 Toyota of Bell.
On lap 254, Blaney’s fate was met; a consequence of taking 2 tires in his previous pit stop rather than 4. Bell caught Blaney for the lead an went on to own the next 41 laps.
Bell’s fate then came on lap 305. While his crew chief opted to put on 4 tires, Gibbs pitted with Bell on the same lap and opted for 2 tires. It was a risky strategy on an Iowa track of decent tire falloff. It did payoff as Gibbs cycled to the lead and held off every charge from Bell over the final 35 laps. Gibbs won by 0.263 seconds.

Denny Hamlin Survives Major Brake Issues
Hamlin had complained about brake issues, citing his car as being far from race ready just a few laps into Cup Series practice on Saturday afternoon. It appeared that Hamlin had issues applying effective brake pressure, even getting his pedal to the floor. Hamlin’s issues carried on to qualifying, which he finished in 29th. Hamlin then started from the rear after making car adjustments.
When the race went green, Hamlin continued to cite brake issues, and it went on for the entire 350 laps. Despite the problem, the future Hall of Famer proved his talent by somehow managing a 5th-place finish. In the post-race interview, Hamlin explained how brutal the race effort was, stating, “If every race were like this, I’d retire after this season.”

Kyle Larson, Tyler Reddick Experience More Tribulations
Larson has yet to win a race since the spring of 2025. That streak continues past Iowa, where he finished 33rd, 18 laps off the lead lap. The result comes after an incident in which Larson contacted Alex Bowman amid a four-wide battle on a lap 143 restart.
Reddick’s day also ended early; very early for that matter. On lap 4, Reddick got loose and spun up into Erik Jones. Both drivers took on too much damage to resume their race days. Reddick came in last place as Jones came in 2nd-to-last; 35th.
