The Dollar Tree 301 NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire on Aug. 23 may be impacted by rain.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway does not have lights around the race track, so the time to get the race in on Aug. 23 could be limited if rain falls for a lengthy amount of time.

Rain chances increase through the day at the track north of Loudon, which is about 15 miles north of Concord, New Hampshire.

The National Weather Service forecasts a 27% chance of precipitation at the time of the green flag, increasing to 57% a few hours later and through to the evening. The NWS also notes a chance of thunderstorms. Temperatures are forecast in the low 70s with winds around 6 mph.

On the radar, a line of storms is drifting west in the direction of the track as of 10 a.m. Central, indicating that rain may fall a little sooner than forecasted. That could accelerate the weather timeline on Aug. 23 and give NASCAR a chance to get the race in after a delay.

A reminder: NASCAR can utilize wet-weather tires at the 1.058-mile oval, and has done so in the past. But wet-weather tires won’t be utilized on a completely washed-out track.
