Nate Diaz gets his boy on Rousey vs Carano fight card as final bout for historic Netflix lineup

The final piece of a historic Netflix mixed martial arts (MMA) fight card is officially in place.

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) announced this past weekend that former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighters Chris Avila and Brandon Jenkins will kick off the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano-led event, set for Sat., May 16, 2026, inside Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California, streaming exclusively on Netflix.

And yes — this one has Nate Diaz written all over it.

Avila (8-9), one of Diaz’s longtime teammates and closest friends, lands on the card in a move that feels more than fitting given Diaz is also featured in the triple-header. Avila went 0-2 during his UFC stint, suffering losses to Artem Lobov and Enrique Barzola before being released.

After his UFC run, Avila bounced around multiple promotions — including Bellator and Combate — before finding his groove in boxing. There, he compiled a solid 6-2 record with notable wins over Anthony Taylor, Jeremy Stephens, and Anthony Pettis (watch highlights).

Now, he’s making his return to MMA on a big stage.

Standing across from him is Jenkins (16-11), another former UFC fighter who went winless inside the Octagon. Jenkins dropped a short-notice bout to Rongzhu before being stopped by Drakkar Klose in his second appearance, leading to his release.

Since then, however, Jenkins has stayed extremely active.

“The Human Highlight Reel” has competed across multiple platforms — including PFL, Karate Combat, boxing, and even bare-knuckle MMA — and built a reputation for being in all-out wars, including a Fight of the Year contender against Zach Juusola.

Simply put: this is guaranteed chaos.

Pairing two action-first fighters like Avila and Jenkins to open the card is smart matchmaking and should set the tone for what is shaping up to be a stacked night.
