Nate Landwehr vs. Cub Swanson UFC 327 preview
Landwehr (18-7 MMA, 5-5 UFC) will look to get back on track while spoiling the send-off for Swanson (30-14 MMA, 15-10 UFC).

Landwehr comes in on a two-fight skid, having dropped fights to DooHo Choi and Morgan Charriere, both by third-round stoppage. This is the first time “The Train” has lost back-to-back fights, which, of course, means he’s never lost three consecutively. His last victory was a first-round finish of Jamall Emmers in March 2024.
Swanson, who already has a spot in the UFC Hall of Fame for his war with Choi, has traded wins and losses since 2020. His last appearance in December 2024 was a third-round finish against Billy Quarantillo. The last time Swanson won back-to-back fights was a unanimous decision over Kron Gracie, followed by a second-round stoppage of Daniel Pineda.

Kicking off the main card in a fashion that would make Joe Silva proud is a featherweight action fight between retiring WEC legend Cub Swanson and Nate “The Train” Landwehr.

As a fan of this sport who remembers the WEC days, seeing Swanson in his UFC swan song makes a lot of us feel old, I imagine. But nostalgia for MMA’s golden era aside, this is a very winnable fight for Swanson.
I’ve also been a big fan of Landwehr since interviewing him all the way back in his M-1 days, but the 37-year-old’s style, which has arguably been deteriorating faster than Swanson’s, has traditionally been tailor-made for his opposition.
Unless Landwehr can surprise Swanson with some hard kicks or punches in the pocket, I suspect that Swanson’s speed, footwork and striking savvy – even at this advanced stage of his career – will be too much for “The Train” to keep up with.
I’m hoping for a Fight of the Night kind of war, but I have a sneaky suspicion that Swanson gets off to a strong start and shuts the door early on Landwehr by finding a knockout by the end of Round 1.
