No. 1 ranked quarterback recruit Jared Curtis is down to two schools. Last month he revealed his top six and now Curtis is down to the Georgia Bulldogs and Oregon Ducks, On3 account reported on Saturday.
This has been a back and forth battle between each program down the stretch for the Nashville Christian five-star. Curtis was once committed to Georgia but he reopened his recruiting process in October but Georgia remained a top school.
“I just love the consistency there and I think they just get better throughout the year,” Curtis said to On3’s Steve Wiltfong (subscription needed).
Now, Georgia will battle with Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks to land Curtis. Oregon has a name, image and likeness war chest and are one of the top recruiting college football programs in the country.
As a junior, Curtis completed over 70 percent of his passes for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns to just three interceptions. He added another 637 yards rushing and 18 more scores. Curtis won Gatorade State Player of the Year Honors in Tennessee and also took home Mr. Football this past fall.
A three-year starter, Curtis has 7,665 passing yards and 92 touchdown passes. He’s gained 1,663 yards and scored 38 times on the ground.
Curtis has gained comparisons to Bulldog great Matthew Stafford with the arm talent that he possess. This kind of recruit Kirby Smart knows that he can not miss out on. Georgia is always looking for its next great quarterback.
