Navajo Stirling ‘prepared for the big time’ after staying undefeated
UFC 315 winner Navajo Stirling spoke to MMA Junkie and reporters post-fight after his unanimous decision victory over Ivan Erslan in Montreal.
MONTREAL – Navajo Stirling met the media Saturday after his win over Ivan Erslan at UFC 315.
Stirling (7-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) stayed unbeaten when he outworked Erslan (14-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) for a unanimous decision at Bell Centre. Because he had early finishes in his career, he said he’s still not sure what his ceiling might be in MMA.
“I don’t really know how good I am,” Stirling said at his post-fight news conference. “When I think about the fight, I was able to entertain the crowd and also get something out of it and really showcase my skill set – that I’m there to hang in this division.
“I’m meant to be here. I’m meant to be here, and that’s what I want to show: Put a bit of respect on my name.”
Stirling said he’s ready to be fast-tracked.
“Because of the way I am and the way I put myself out there, I invite it all. I invite the pressure, I invite the big moments. I really want to see what I’m capable of, and I’m sure the fans want to see what I’m capable of. They want to see me against the best, and that’s why I’m here.
“… I’m ready for it. I’m prepared for it big time.”
