NC State will not be playing at VCU this basketball season, instead choosing to buy out that game, which isn’t terribly surprising given the coaching change. NC State’s win over VCU in November ended up being one of its best wins of the season, as the Rams went on to become A-10 champions.
They also had the courtesy to knock out UNC in the first round of the NCAA tournament, so I hope NC State is at least planning to send a thank-you card with that buyout check. Maybe there’s an old Wolfpack Unlimited award sitting around that we can send up there.

Justin Gainey already has added a neutral-site matchup with Tennessee to the schedule, which might have been a factor in canceling the VCU game. NC State still has a neutral-site game with Mississippi on the books, as far as I know, and the Pack is also going to the Bahamas along with Wisconsin, Seton Hall, and a team that is TBD.
