NCAA tournament star to enter transfer portal after 2 seasons at VCU

by

Coming out of high school, Terrence Hill Jr. was an unranked prospect out of Roosevelt High School in Portland, OR. He committed to the VCU Rams, seeing little run as a freshman. But he burst onto the scene during the 2025-26 season, averaging 15.0 points, 2.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game on 46.6% from the field. He was named the A-10 Sixth Man of the Year, Most Improved Player and A-10 conference tournament MVP, as the Rams secured an NCAA tournament bid.

But it’s what happened in March that truly capped off a tremendous season — on a national level — for Hill, as he exploded for a game-high 34 points in the first round against the North Carolina Tar Heels, helping spur a 19-point comeback. VCU won in overtime, with Hill knocking down a go-ahead three-pointer in the final minute.

In all, Hill went 13-for-23 from the floor and 7-for-10 from 3-point range, also grabbing five boards and dishing out five assists. He was one of the stars of the NCAA tournament, inking multiple NIL deals after downing the Tar Heels.

Just a few weeks later, Hill plans to enter the transfer portal, per On3’s Joe Tipton.
