Nebraska collapses 72-52 in after-dark battle at UCLA

Nebraska (25-5, 13-5) remained on the West Coast to face UCLA (20-10, 12-7) in a Tuesday after-dark clash. The late-night battle proved to be too great for the Huskers, who fell big to the Bruins 72-52.

UCLA remains vigilant at home, now holding a 17-1 record on the season. It translated well on Tuesday, with the team controlling the game from start to finish, going up by 15 in the first half and shooting an efficient 28-of-60 from the floor in the win. Nebraska, meanwhile, struggled offensively, going 19-of-49 altogether and just 5-of-24 from beyond the arc. The Bruins finished 10-of-29 from three. The Huskers also shot just 9-of-18 from the free-throw line.

The Huskers chipped away at the lead in the second half, bringing the deficit to 10 with just under seven minutes left. But UCLA shut the door on any chance at a comeback, outscoring Nebraska 15-5 to put the game away.

Trent Perry for UCLA dominated the night, shooting 8-of-15 from the floor and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc for 20 points. Eric Dailey Jr. also shot efficiently for the Bruins, going 6-of-9 for 14 points. The duo also combined for 15 rebounds.

Sam Hoiberg led Nebraska in the loss, scoring 12 points after hitting 4-of-5 from the floor, 2-of-2 from three and 2-of-4 at the line. Cale Jacobsen and Rienk Mast each scored 11 points and shot 4-of-7. Pryce Sandfort tallied nine points and finished 3-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-7 from three.

The Huskers return home to conclude the regular season on Sunday afternoon against Iowa. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. CT on Fox.
