The Nebraska women’s basketball team concluded the opening home stretch of the season by hosting Southern on Tuesday night. After a close win over Southeastern Louisiana, the No. 21 Huskers swiftly defeated the Jaguars 84-58.
Nebraska shot just shy of .500 in the win, going 27-of-55 from the field. The Huskers also shot 25-of-36 from the free throw line, eclipsing Southern’s 6-of-10. Nebraska also dominated the Jaguars in rebounds, 46-26.
Alexis Markowski unleashed a team-high 22 points in the win to surpass 1,400 career points, becoming the 16th Husker in school history to achieve the mark. Markowski also hauled in six rebounds on the night, bringing her career total to 978, 12 shy of No. 5 all-time.
Natalie Potts earned her sixth career double-double in the win, scoring 17 points and securing a team-high 12 rebounds. Potts led the team at the free-throw line as well, shooting 6-of-8. Florida transfer Alberte Rimdal delivered her second-straight double-digit game, dropping 13 points by going 5-of-7 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line.
Nebraska improves to 3-0 on the season and will hit the road for its next game. The Huskers take on South Dakota on Saturday night. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT on B1G+.
