Nevada Lands First 2027 Verbal Pledge From Tiger Aquatics’ Mac Wheeler
NEW COMMIT: Mac Wheeler of Stockton, Calif., has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Nevada, Reno for the 2027-27 season and beyond. Wheeler is a Futures qualifier specializing in sprint freestyle and butterfly.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Nevada Reno! I would like to thank my family, friends, and amazing teammates for their continuous support throughout this journey! I would also like to thank Coach Nate and Coach Angel for shaping me into the swimmer I am today! Special thank you to Coach Adriana and Coach Brendon for this amazing opportunity! I can’t wait to join the Pack!”
Wheeler does her club swimming with Tiger Aquatics and won four events at Zone 2 Winter Championships in January after notching a personal best and earning three second-swims at Walnut Speedo Sectionals the month prior. Last summer, she had a trio of top-25 finishes at Novato Speedo Sectionals before going on to collect three best times at Sacramento Futures. She also won the 100m free at Far Westerns.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.50
- 100 free – 51.65
- 100 fly – 55.95
Currently a junior at Lincoln High School, Wheeler raced the 100 free at the 2025 CIF State Championships and took fifth in that event, as well as fourth in the 100 back, at the CIF Sac Joaquin Section Championship.
Nevada finished fifth at the 2026 Mountain West Championships.
