Former “SportsCenter” anchor Linda Cohn posted a video on social media on July 4 defending Caitlin Clark. The Indiana Fever guard suffered some shots during a game against the Mercury last month.
Over the last few days, members of the media and fans have shared their thoughts on the incident and have blasted the WNBA for how they’ve treated the superstar. Caitlin Clark, however, has taken a firm stance against that scrutiny, and Cohn outlined that in her video.

“Ever notice when Caitlin Clark is the victim, she never plays the role of the victim,” Cohn said. “She spoke up publicly for the first time since Alyssa Thomas came out publicly and said she’s been getting death threats to her and her family, and there has been racial slurs thrown at her.”
Cohn asked if Thomas had reported these incidents to the police because if she did, the authorities would be able to provide a quick and effective resolution.
There’s no denying that the league has benefited massively from the addition of Caitlin Clark. She has brought more fans and attention to the league. However, threatening players cannot be justified under any circumstances.

Clark recently spoke about the same and said that she doesn’t want any player or franchise to be affected by negative attention.
“The harassment, the hate. None of that is OK,” she said, as per ESPN. “There should never be question of character like I’ve always stood up here and said that, and that’s truly what I believe, that’s how I was raised. So, none of that is okay, and I don’t want anyone to experience that.”
The entire saga started after Alyssa Thomas seemingly landed her fist on Caitlin Clark’s throat while she was down on the floor during the game.
Stephen A. Smith Blasted the WNBA for Caitlin Clark’s treatment
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has been very vocal about how the WNBA has been treating Caitlin Clark, who is arguably the league’s most valuable asset. After the Alyssa Thomas incident, Stephen A. said that the WNBA needs to protect and promote her like the NBA did with their biggest stars, like Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan.

“You’re not the NBA. You don’t have an 11-year, $77 billion contract. You’re still building the league. You just reached an incredible collective bargaining agreement,” he said on First Take. “They did a great job with that. The league is growing. But there’s still a lot more work to be done. Don’t get in the way of the cash cow.”
Stephen A. believes that the rise of Caitlin Clark will only benefit the league, and if they continue to treat her the same way, it could be disastrous for the league’s future.
