This offseason, the Indiana Fever made a handful of significant additions in free agency or via trade to help facilitate a championship run in Caitlin Clark’s second WNBA season.
It was evident that the team sought out veteran players of the highest caliber to surround Clark. The Fever added two-time WNBA All-Defensive First Team selection Brianna Turner, a three-time champion and two-time All-Star in Natasha Howard and DeWanna Bonner, a two-time champion and six-time All-Star.

With one more preseason game before the team’s May 17 regular season opener against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, the team is still figuring out rotations, roles and chemistry. However, Bonner has already figured out one thing about playing with Clark, explaining to the media on Thursday that it’s more fun to be on her team than on an opposing team.
“Just feeding off her energy and her will to win,” Bonner said of Clark. “She wants to win and that’s been really fun. And getting to you know, run around with her is definitely better than chasing her around.”

Bonner and Clark took the floor together for their first game-like setting this past Sunday, when they faced the Brazilian National team at the home of Clark’s alma mater, the Iowa Hawkeyes. Bonner got a front-row seat to Clark’s magical return, which saw around 15,000 fans in attendance and also averaged 1.3 million viewers.

Clark and Bonner combined for 23 points and eight rebounds, as the Fever went on to win 108-44.
Although the Fever have one tune-up game on Saturday against the Atlanta Dream to round out preseason play, WNBA fans are eagerly awaiting the latest saga of the Sky-Fever rivalry. Coming off a year that the WNBA announced saw over 54 million unique viewers across ABC, CBS, ESPN, ESPN2, ION and NBA TV, it’s safe to assume fans are counting down the days.
The game is scheduled for next Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET and will air on ABC.
