A new name has entered the NCAA transfer portal, and it is a name that Michigan State basketball fans should be on notice about.
After just one year at Syracuse, Eddie Lampkin Jr. has made the decision to transfer for his final year of college basketball. He spent the first three years of his college career at TCU, before spending a year at both Colorado and TCU. Now, he will have to find a new home for his sixth and final year in the sport.

So, what is the big reason for monitoring his portal situation? During the last two off-season’s, when he transferred from TCU and Colorado, Michigan State has been linked to contacting Lampkin in the portal. With the Spartans now having a need for an extra big, MSU could go back to the well, and contact the transfer big once again.
A 6-foot-11, 300 pound center, Lampkin fits the profile of what Tom Izzo loves in a center, and he has a very similar play style to Nick Ward, which would compliment Carson Cooper’s game nicely. A back to the basket scorer, who is also a ferocious rebounder, Lampkin and Cooper could provide an elite 1-2 punch at the center position.
Over his career, Lampkin averages 8.4 points and 6.8 rebounds, but in 2024-25, he averaged 11.5 points and 9.6 rebounds with the Orange.
Continue to monitor Lampkin, and see if he is contacted by Michigan State for the third straight offseason.
