
The New York Liberty had a very successful 2024 WNBA season. When all was said and done, they finished the year with a 32-8 record.
After the big regular season, the Liberty were able to make a run all the way to the WNBA Finals. In the Finals, New York faced off against the Minnesota Lynx and won the series three games to two. It was the Liberty’s first ever WNBA championship.

Breanna Stewart was the unquestioned leader for New York. She averaged 20.4 points per game to go along with 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks. Behind her, Sabrina Ionescu had a big year as well with 18.2 points per game, 6.2 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steals.
On Saturday, the Liberty made a huge announcement regarding Stewart. New York was able to get a new deal done to re-sign Stewart.

Following the announcement of the Stewart re-signing, the Liberty’s general manager, Jonathan Kolb, issued a statement about the move.
“Bringing Stewie back to the Liberty was our top priority this offseason,” he said. “Her impact on and off the court is immeasurable — she’s not only one of the best and most accomplished players in the world, but a leader whose relentless drive is foundational to the standard we continue to build upon in New York.”

Throughout her entire WNBA career, Stewart has played in 261 total games. In those appearances, she has averaged 20.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.4 steals.
Stewart has shot 47% from the floor during her career and has knocked down 35.6% of her 3-point attempts.
