New York Rangers Return Dylan Garand To AHL

by

The New York Rangers announced they have reassigned goaltender Dylan Garand to their AHL affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack.

Garand was recalled on Feb. 7 to back-up Jonathan Quick for the Rangers game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Feb. 8 after Igor Shesterkin was diagnosed with an upper-body injury.

The 22-year-old has been one of the best goaltenders in the AHL this season, boasting a 12-7-4 record with a .913 SP, 2.68 GAA, and three shutouts.

A fourth round selection of the Rangers in 2020, Garand has yet to make his NHL debut.

This move allows Garand to get playing time while the NHL is on break for the 4 Nations Face-Off. Shesterkin is expected to be ready once the NHL resumes but Garand could be back up with the big club if his recovery does not go according to plan.

Hartford’s next game comes Feb. 12 against the Bridgeport Islanders.
