The No. 24 Huskers hosted Tarleton State in a Wednesday night game. Following a big win over Minnesota, Nebraska faced another low-scoring bout. The Texans held Nebraska to its lowest-scoring game of the season. However, the Huskers, despite the low score, pulled out the win.
Nebraska attempted to pull away from Tarleton State in the middle two quarters of the game, building a 48-30 lead right before the fourth quarter. Though the Texans closed the gap to six points halfway through the fourth, the Huskers closed out the game with a 13-6 run.
Nebraska shot a season-low 29.8% from the field after going 17-of-57. However, the Huskers made up for it at the free throw line, shooting 22-of-25. This kept them out of reach of Tarleton State, who shot 20-of-52 from the field and only 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
Freshman Britt Prince led the charge for the Huskers, finishing with 19 points after going 5-of-11 from the field, 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
Alexis Markowski scored 15 points for Nebraska, earning a majority of her points at the free throw line, landing 9-of-10. She also finished with a team-high six rebounds. Freshman Amiah Hargrove rounded out the Huskers’ double-digit scorers, dropping 13 points by going 5-of-6 from the field.
The Huskers improve to 9-1 on the season and will host Chattanooga on Sunday. Tipoff is set for noon on B1G+ and Nebraska Public Media (NPM).
