FLASH! Noè Ponti Takes Down His 50 Fly WR In 21.43
Noè Ponti lowered his own 50 fly WR in a time of 21.43 on day one of the short-course worlds in Budapest.
The Swiss athlete served notice of his intention in prelims when he stopped the clock in 21.53, 0.03 off the WR he set at the Singapore leg of the World Cup.
He returned to the Duna Arena for the semis where he sliced 0.07 off his own mark in the semis and has an0ther chance to lower it still further in Wednesday’s final.
It was the third WR of the evening following Summer McIntosh in the 400 free and Gretchen Walsh in the women’s 50 fly and the fourth overall while still on the first day in the Hungarian capital.
