One of the biggest questions surrounding Notre Dame football’s quarterfinal College Football Playoff game against the Georgia Bulldogs is what the opponents offense will look like.
If you weren’t aware, their starting quarterback Carson Beck is out of the remainder of the season, and they will turn to Gunner Stockton. It will be his first career start after some mop up duty the last two seasons.
Irish defensive coordinator Al Golden was asked on Friday what to expect from Stockton and the Georgia offense, and he was very complimentary. He said about the quarterback that “he’s got moxie” and that Stockton knows how to run the system.
Golden went into a bit more detail about the Bulldogs offense, as they “have excellent wide outs, 3 or 4 deep at tight end, three-deep at running back.. the offensive line is strong, probably the biggest we have seen.”
He’s aware of the talent that surrounds Stockton and knows that “he doesn’t need to do it himself.” You have to believe that Golden’s plan will be to make him try to do it himself, which would play into Notre Dame’s hands.
