Vanderbilt’s Aubrey Galvan and Mikayla Blakes missed game-tying 3-point attempts in the final 14 seconds. And Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo snared the rebound as the clock expired for a 67-64 win for the Irish in the NCAA women’s tournament Sweet 16.
Cassandre Prosper’s layup with 22 seconds remaining in regulation was the difference the game, giving Notre Dame a 66-64 lead. Coming out of a timeout, Vanderbilt’s defense was focused on Hidalgo to make sure she didn’t have an opportunity to score. But that freed up Prosper near the basket and Hidalgo found her for the go-ahead basket.
