Notre Dame football team honored at men’s basketball game

by

The Notre Dame men’s basketball team left a lot to be desired in its 97-73 loss to SMU, its worst of the season. But there was one good thing to come out of this awful game. That was the football team being there to be honored.

This game was the first of three in which both the Irish’s Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl trophies would be on display for fans to take pictures with. Marcus Freeman was there for the whole thing, and a few players took part in on-court contests during timeouts. It made the lousy product during the game a little easier to take.

The biggest moment had to have come during the first half. Freeman and the players took the court during one timeout and received the standing ovation they so very much deserved. This is sure to be a common occurrence for them whenever they’re in a group for the next few months:

Hopefully next year, the Irish will be making the rounds as national champions.
