Notre Dame women’s basketball has picked up more front court help via the transfer portal. Niele Ivey’s Fighting Irish, who just saw three players drafted by WNBA teams earlier this week and lost four players from this year’s roster to the transfer portal, have received a commitment from Kansas State forward Gisela Sanchez.
The 6-4 rising senior played her last two seasons in Manhattan for KSU after playing her first season in Tucson with the Arizona Wildcats. Sanchez averaged 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 15.4 minutes and 27 games for the 28-8 Wildcats while helping her team reach the NCAA Tournament this season.

A native of Barcelona, Spain, Sanchez averaged career highs of 5.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 15.9 minutes during her sophomore season in 2023-2024. She has made 34 of 122 (28%) of her career 3-pointers and is a career 66% free throw shooter, making 29 of 44 attempts at the charity stripe in three seasons.
Sanchez came off the bench in all 27 appearances for the Wildcats this season. She started six of her 33 games as a sophomore and came off the bench for all 20 games as a freshman at Arizona.
Sanchez’s commitment gives Ivey two front court transfer commitments in the past week. Malaya Cowles, formerly of Wake Forest, signed with the Fighting Irish last week. Those additions give the Irish two forwards to go with returning guards Hannah Hidalgo, Cassandre Prosper and KK Bransford, who missed all of this past season with a lower leg injury. Incoming freshman forward Leah Macy suffered a knee injury during the Kentucky state tournament and her status for the 2025-26 season is uncertain.
