While Notre Dame football has had plenty of success recruiting legacies, it didn’t work out the first time with Emmett Mosley.

His father Emmett played for the Irish from 1993-1996, while his mother Cindy played soccer for Notre Dame and won the Herman Trophy in 1996. Mosley was a 3-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings coming out of high school in California and had an Irish offer, but opted to stay closer to home and signed with the Stanford Cardinal.

Mosley had an extremely successful freshman year, which saw him catch 48 passes for 525-yards and 6 touchdowns. Stanford recently announced that Frank Reich was going to take over as head coach on an interim basis, and there have been more than a few players to enter the portal since the news broke which now includes the 6-foot, 2-inch and 190-pound receiver.

Notre Dame does have a solid base for its receiving core with Jaden Greathouse and Malachi Fields, but there is plenty of room for another to join the roster. It will be interesting to see if the Irish try and go after Mosley again, as it would make sense to see if there is mutual interest.
