The rumors turned out to be true for Notre Dame football, they hired who every thought they would for the now filled linebacker and defensive backs position coach vacancies.
The first was Aaron Henry, who comes to the Irish after spending the last two years as Illinois defensive coordinator. He’s set to take over the defensive backs, but also will serves as the co-defensive coordinator. It’s an extremely impressive hire, one that could pay huge dividends for Notre Dame in the future, especially if the other DC Chris Ash, leaves for a head coaching job.
The second announcement was for Brian Jean-Mary, who will take over as the linebackers coach and run game coordinator. Over the course of a 25-year coaching career, he’s coached at every level while also being an assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. Jean-Mary was most recently on Michigan’s staff.

The depth on the coaching staff that head coach Marcus Freeman has assembled it extremely impressive, and it’s been proven recently that the best staffs play huge parts in winning the College Football Playoff. There no doubt in my mind that Notre Dame has one of the best collection of coaches, if not the best, in the country.
