Notre Dame may be close to locking down their running back room in the 2027 class.
Notre Dame’s recruiting momentum under head coach Marcus Freeman continued this week with the surprise commitment of Texas RB Lathan Whisenton, and now it appears that they may be on verge of securing another sought after running back in 2027.

Steve Wiltfong of On3 recently submitted an insider’s prediction for a commitment of running back Isaiah Rogers to the FIghting Irish. Rogers is a 247Sports Composite four-star out of Springfield, Massachusetts. He stands at 5-foot-11 and 205-pounds. He is ranked as the No. 15 running back in the class and No. 237 overall in the 2027 class.
On film, Rogers shows polished footwork and excellent balance through contact, with an ability to change direction while maintaining downhill momentum. “He’s got that rare burst that separates good backs from great ones,” said Allen Trieu, a Midwest recruiting analyst for On3. “He doesn’t need much space to turn a three-yard gain into a big play.”
Rogers is a multi-sport athlete being a two-time state qualifier in track and field as well. He runs the indoor 55-meter dash.
Rogers has official visits set up for Georgia, Indiana, and Penn State and has not yet set a date for an official visit to Notre Dame. However, with Whisenton’s commitment this week, there may now be a sense of urgency of a “first-come, first-serve” for any running backs who view South Bend as a potential home.

There is a chance that two Notre Dame running backs are going to be drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft next month. South Bend has become a destination spot for prospects who want to go to a school that has a track record of developing the position.
