One of the most dynamic players in women’s college basketball is running it back in South Bend.

Since arriving in South Bend, Hidalgo has re-defined what it means to be a two-way guard. Her playmaking is uncanny and yet might be outdone by her electric play on defense. The native from New Jersey led Notre Dame in scoring, steals, and assists in each of her first three seasons, and has been the heartbeat of head coach Niele Ivey’s program.

This past year was Hidalgo’s best yet. She averaged 25.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 5.6 steals on a nightly basis. Her outstanding play was noticed as she once again won the ACC Player of the Year and the Defensive Player of the Year. On top of all that, she won the national Defensive Player of the Year. Notre Dame finished 25-11 for the season and 12-6 in the ACC. The Irish ultimately succumbed to the UConn Huskies in the Elight Eight of the NCAA tournament.

“I love Notre Dame, my teammates, and our fans—it’s not finished yet,” Hidalgo wrote in her announcement post, sending Irish Nation into a frenzy.
