The honors for the Notre Dame women’s basketball team this season is getting super crowded. Even no actual awards come of them, which is a very hard scenario to fathom, the fact that these honors even are coming their way a bunch at a time is a testament to how successful this season has been.
Three different Irish players have been named to finalist lists or watch lists over the past couple of days. While there probably won’t be many if any surprises here, they are fun to see nonetheless.
Hannah Hidalgo is one of 15 players who has been named to the watch list for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year. The nature of that award speaks for itself.
Sonia Citron is a finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award. This is given to the player the Basketball Hall of Fame deems the best small forward in the country.
Similarly, Liatu King has been named a finalist for the Katrina McClain Award. The Hall of Fame gives this award to the country’s top power forward.
With games like this, how can at least one of these awards not be coming the Irish’s way?
That alone should be enough to convince anybody.
