Notre Dame women’s basketball predicted as No. 1 seed in latest NCAA Tournament projection

by

Notre Dame women’s basketball remains a No. 1 seed in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament if it started today.

The No. 4 Fighting Irish (24-3, 15-1 ACC) remain one of the teams to beat in basketball despite a 104-95 loss to No. 13 NC State on Sunday, snapping a 19-game winning streak. No. 1 overall seed UCLA, Texas, and USC join Notre Dame as fellow No. 1 seeds. The same schools were also No. 1 seeds when the first women’s college basketball seedings were released on Feb. 16.

The women’s college basketball regular season concludes this weekend before conference tournaments open up March Madness for a dash to a national championship. The Fighting Irish would be placed in the Birmingham 4 bracket, joined by defending national champion and No. 2 seed South Carolina. Tennessee projects as the No. 3 seed in the bracket, while Oklahoma is the No. 4 seed, completing the all-SEC bracket sans Notre Dame.

Hannah Hidalgo and the Fighting Irish were in action against Florida State on Thursday evening. The NCAA tournament brackets will be revealed on Sunday, March 16. Here’s a look at Thursday’s bracket reveal and where Notre Dame landed:
