No. 10 Notre Dame women’s basketball will host No. 3/4 Texas in the an ACC/SEC Challenge game Thursday night at Purcell Pavilion at 7 p.m.
Notre Dame (5-2) went to the Cayman Islands Classic last week with a 5-0 mark and ranked No. 3 in the nation. TCU beat the Irish, 76-68, on Friday and then Utah downed Notre Dame, 78-67, on Saturday. The Irish fell to No. 10 in both the USA Today Coaches poll and the Associated Press poll.
The Longhorns (7-0) are coming off a 3-game stint at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estera, Fla., where their stiffest competition came from then No. 10-ranked West Virginia. Texas got past the Cavs, 78-73.

Notre Dame has four players averaging in double figures, led by sophomore Hannah Hidalgo (23.9), followed by Olivia Miles (16.7), Liatu King (13.7) and Sonia Citron (12-7).
Texas is equally balanced with Madison Booker’s 16.0 average leading a group of four in double figures.
This will be the first matchup between the two Power 4 schools in 27 years as they last faced each other on March 17, 1997 in the NCAA Tournament second round, where Notre Dame won 86-83. With the overall series split at 1-1, the Irish have played both previous games in Austin, Texas and will host the Longhorns for the very first time.
The Big 12 Tournament Champs, coached by Vic Schaefer, finished 33-5 last year as the Longhorns’ season came to a close in the Elite Eight after falling to NC State.
