The Nittany Lions continued their recent hot stretch on the recruiting trail yesterday, landing commitments from three-star New Jersey defensive lineman Carter Blattner and four-star Iowa wide receiver Landon Blum.
Blattner chose Penn State over other finalists USC, Virginia Tech, and Kentucky. At 6-foot-5, 250 pounds, Blattner’s positional future is still pretty open. He could stay at defensive end and be a jumbo edge like Ryan Buchholz, or he might be someone who gets up into the 290-range and plays defensive tackle. Regardless of his positional outcome, Blattner has the tools to be a real player for Penn State. He has the exact frame you’re looking for from a defensive lineman.

Blum is the top-ranked prospect in Iowa, with Penn State getting the nod over programs like Iowa, Ole Miss, Miami, and Kansas State. Like Blattner, his positional future is still to be decided too. He’s being looked at as a wide receiver right now, but at 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Blum eventually grow into a flex tight end.
8-on-8 football, FTW!
