The Ohio State Women’s team went into Pauley Pavilion and gave No. 1 and undefeated UCLA everything it could handle for three and a half quarters. The Buckeyes went cold in the final period and couldn’t seem to find a basket when they needed it as the Bruins surged to a comfortable lead. OSU would lose the game by a score of 65-52, but it was much closer than the final score would indicate.
The Buckeyes will stay on the West Coast and play a second game in Los Angeles in the span of just four days, and it doesn’t get much easier. A matchup with No. 7 USC awaits. The Trojans are led by one of the best players in the country in JuJu Watkins. The super sophomore is averaging more than 24 points per game along with 6.5 rebounds. USC comes into the contest with a record identical to Ohio State at 20-2 and is one game up on the Buckeyes for second place in the Big Ten.
