Stow and Barberton each suffered losses to Medina County-based foes in Week 1. The two Suburban League schools will look to bounce back against each other Friday night at Stow.

In 2023, Barberton defeated Stow 47-23 at home in Week 2.

Stow’s Jacob Harrington wearing ’87’ in honor of fallen coach

Stow football has decided to honor coach Sean Flaherty by retiring the number 87 from the program. Flaherty died this summer.

However, Stow plans on giving the No. 87 to its top player each week this fall. Tonight, quarterback Jacob Harrington will wear No. 87 for the Bulldogs.

Stow vs. Barberton football players to watch

Stow quarterback Jacob Harrington accounted for two touchdown passes in Week 1 against Medina. He went 10-of-25 passing for 70 yards with two scores and threw three interceptions, along with 73 yards rushing. Caden Boyd added 72 yards on 12 carries against Medina. Daylon Keeling is likely to Harrington’s top target. Barberton’s Josiah Wright rushed for 55 yards on 18 carries, making him the lone offensive bright spot in the Magics’ shutout loss to Wadsworth.

A look at the Barberton vs. Stow football coaches

Tony Gotto is his 11th season with the Magics and had turned the program into a consistent winner with a record of 74-37 in Barberton. He has the most wins in program history.

Martin Poder is his third year as Stow head coach after serving as the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator under head coach Mark Nori. He has a record of 2-20 at Stow.
