The Oklahoma Sooners issued a pair of quarterback offers in the 2028 recruiting class on Monday. One of them went to three-star quarterback prospect Brady Quinn out of Florida. The other went to four-star quarterback Trey Tagliaferri from New Jersey.
According to Rivals, Tagliaferri is considered the No. 99 player in the 2028 recruiting cycle and the No. 11 quarterback prospect in the class. In addition to the Sooner’s offers, he holds notable offers from nine SEC schools, including Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt.

Tagliaferri is an impressive pocket passer, showing the ability to throw to all fields of the offense. He displays a great deep ball that is very catchable for his wide receivers. He plays on time within the structure of the offense, getting the ball out quickly to his playmakers. Tagliaferri is an accurate passer who can hit his wide receivers in stride, whether throwing downfield or in the quick passing game.
He doesn’t run a lot but has the athleticism to make plays with his feet. On the move, Tagliaferri keeps his eyes down the field, looking to make big plays through the air.
The Sooners’ quarterback situation is in good hands for the next several years with John Mateer at the helm in 2026 and Bowe Bentley, Whitt Newbauer, Jett Niu, and Jamison Roberts to be the quarterback room in 2027. However, Tagliaferri is a name to keep an eye on over the next year and a half as the Sooners look to add to their quarterback depth for the future.
