Oklahoma Sooners on the rise in latest USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll

by

The Oklahoma Sooners continued their strong start to the 2025 season, moving to 11-0 on the year with a three-game sweep of Cal State Northridge in Norman.

Oklahoma went 5-0 last week against Texas Southern and Cal State Northridge by a combined score of 42-12. After remaining undefeated this week, the Sooners moved up two spots to No. 12 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. Oklahoma is one of six undefeated teams in the latest coaches poll.

The Tennessee Volunteers took a stronger hold on the top spot, earning 27 of the 30 possible first-place votes after last week only gaining 18 first-place votes. Led by the Vols, the SEC holds the top three spots, with the LSU Tigers coming in at No. 2, followed by the Arkansas Razorbacks. The ACC boasts the next two teams in the top five, the North Carolina Tar Heels and Florida State Seminoles.

12 of the 16 SEC teams were featured in the top 25. Texas A&M suffered a steep drop, falling 12 spots to No. 14 in the nation.

Oklahoma has a midweek matchup with Dallas Baptist on Tuesday in Dallas and then hosts Sam Houston State for three games this weekend at L Dale Mitchell Park.
