Ole Miss adds Marcus Woodson, Terrence Metcalf to coaching staff

OXFORD – A pair of Ole Miss football players from yesteryear are joining Pete Golding’s first coaching staff.

The Rebels announced the hirings of Marcus Woodson and Terrence Metcalf as co-defensive coordinator and assistant offensive coach/offensive line assistant, respectively, Thursday morning. Woodson, who was hired as Kansas State’s co-defensive coordinator in December and served as Arkansas’ co-defensive coordinator from 2023-2025, replaces Patrick Toney. Toney, who was hired by Ole Miss in January, was recently hired as the defensive passing game coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. Woodson played safety at Ole Miss from 2000-02 and is from Moss Point.

Metcalf, who was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in December, starred at tackle for Ole Miss from 1997-2001. He was named a first-team All-American in 2001 and was twice a first-team All-SEC pick. The Clarksdale native was selected by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft and started 25 games over seven seasons. Metcalf was the head coach at Coahoma Community College from 2022-23. His son, D.K., starred at Oxford High School and Ole Miss and currently plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is a two-time Pro Bowl selection.
