Olympic Champion Sébastien Flute joins Excellence Centre staff

by

Barcelona 1992 Olympic Champion Sébastien Flute has begun a new role as head of operations at the World Archery Excellence Centre in Lausanne (Switzerland).

The Frenchman caused archery’s popularity to surge in France when he won the Olympics at the age of 20, coached the national team after retiring as an athlete, and was most recently responsible for the sport – and venue – at Paris 2024.

“I’m very excited to start this new chapter in my archery life and help build the World Archery Excellence Centre into a true cornerstone for the sport’s development,” said Flute.

“It‘s an incredible facility with a talented team, including a world-class coaching staff led by Marc Dellenbach, that has already welcomed 1000s of elite and recreational archers.”

“We’ll work hard to make the Centre the dream destination for athletes, as well as coaches and officials, who are passionate about the bow and arrow.”

Sébastien and his team in Paris successfully delivered the Olympic and Paralympic archery competitions while managing the unique challenges of the multi-use Invalides arena in the heart of the French capital, which also hosted marathon and cycling.

He has also worked on other major sporting events including the Dakar Rally and Tour de France, bringing exceptional project management experience alongside his passion for the sport of archery.

“We are very happy to welcome Olympic Champion Sébastien Flute to the management staff of the World Archery Excellence Centre,” said World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen.

“His professional background at the Games and the many other top-tier sporting events in which he has been involved, his expertise in risk management and project delivery, and his deep knowledge and dedication to the sport, adds an incredibly valuable asset to the team.”

“I’m confident that Sébastien is the perfect appointment to steer the Excellence Centre to new heights.”

The World Archery Excellence Centre is a state-of-the-art archery training facility and event venue in the Olympic Capital of Lausanne (Switzerland).
