After a competitive opening quarter, the Cal State Bakersfield women’s basketball team turned in a 2-of-16 cold shooting second quarter that ultimately cost them in a 67-58 road loss at Eastern Washington in Cheney on Wednesday night.
The Roadrunners trailed 22-21 after the first quarter, shooting 67% percent (8-for 12), but Eastern Washington outscored CSUB 14-5 in the second quarter. The second half was competitive again, including the Runners outscoring Eastern Washington in the fourth quarter. CSUB shot 21 of 57 (36.8%) for the game.
Three players — Catie Gingras with 14 points, Ary Dizon with 13 and Marley Langi 10 — finished in double figures scoring for CSUB (0-6). Dizon and Alli Dioli each had eight rebounds.
CSUB now plays a mini slate of Big West Conference games with a weekend set of home games Dec. 5 against UC Irvine at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 7 against UC San Diego at 2 p.m. at the Icardo Center.
