While it may seem like Notre Dame football’s path to win the College Football Playoff will be difficult, there is one projection that actually has them as the favorite to win it all.
Bill Radjewski of CollegeFootballData.com simulated the current CFP bracket and Connor McQuiston shared the findings on social media. The data shows that the Irish are the favorite to win this bracket, at 28.11%, more than ten-percentage points away from the next team in Oregon.
The projection gives Notre Dame a 81.3% chance to defeat Indiana, before playing the Georgia Bulldogs in the next round. A little more than 50%, at 56%, to beat the Bulldogs before a trio of teams they could face off in the semifinals.
Radjewski then gives the Irish a 43.7% chance to win in the semifinals which leads to the top of the group to win it all. The Hoosiers are one of six teams the simulation gives less than 2% chance of winning the CFP.
Here’s to hoping that Radjewski’s projections are accurate, and the Irish are celebrating plenty.
