Oregon Ducks pick up prediction to land 4-star QB in 2027 class

by

Whether it’s at the high school level or via the transfer portal, the Oregon Ducks have had no shortage of elite quarterbacks come through Eugene over the years.

The last three guys, in particular, have been spectacular, with Bo Nix and Dillon Gabriel both going to New York as Heisman Trophy finalists in 2023 and 2024, and Dante Moore standing as one of the top passers going into the 2026 season.

It now looks like Oregon has zeroed in on one of its future “guys” at the position, as well. On Thursday, a couple of predictions from On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Adam Gorney landed for the Ducks to land a passer in the 2027 class. That passer is 4-star QB Will Mencl, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound QB from Chandler, Arizona.

Mencl is rated as the No. 247 player and No. 15 QB in the 2027 class, per 247Sports.

Should Oregon eventually land him, it would further strengthen what already looks like a very solid QB room. In 2026, Oregon will have Dante Moore as the starter, backed up by Nebraska Cornhuskers transfer Dylan Raiola. The Ducks also have former 4-star QB Akili Smith Jr. waiting in the wings as a redshirt freshman.

A commitment date has not yet been set for Mencl, but it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see him get into the mix in the near future.
